graveyard pt ii

the theatre

You awaken in a darkened theatre.

In front of you is an enormous cinema screen. On it plays everything that's currently happening in the castle, accompanied by appropriate sound effects and background instrumentals when fitting. The seat you're sitting on is large and plush, and while there's many of them, there's enough room in the theatre for you to fully recline the seat into a comfortable bed if you wish. Under each seat is a sleeping mask and noise-cancelling headphones, in case you'd like to take a break from watching the show.

Follow the stairs up and you'll reach what should be the projection room. There are no projectors in here, however; it is simply a large and well-lit room above the main seating area, and a good place to hang out with your fellow eliminated contestants if shouting at each other across the aisles proves too much to handle.

If you leave the theatre through the door in the back, you'll find yourself in a hall. On one end is a concession stand. It's stocked with standard movie snacks - popcorn, candy and the like - but if you're feeling the urge for something else, you'll be able to find it stocked somewhere in the back. On the other end is a table with thirty wrapped bags and a placard reading 'A star for our stars! Please accept these lovely giftbags as a token of appreciation for your hard work, sponsored by [illegible smudge]'. Each bag has a tag bearing the name of someone in the mansion; you will only be able to open the bag with your name on it. As soon as you open it, any memories that have been taken from you, including those of the other people in the mansion that you may have forgotten, will be returned in their entirety. Within the bag are also objects from your home that you may want for your stay here, though you will find no weapons.

Past the hall is another door, this one wooden and seemingly decayed. If you go inside, you'll find a fairly simple, wooden room, that is empty except for a very large machine. It is difficult to tell what the machine is for; it has a touch screen that appears to be a control panel, as well as a large open space that seems to be part of the machine, but the machine is dead and won't turn on no matter what you do.

Still, at least you aren't alone here. You have your fellow players, as well as a few guests to keep you company.

Oh, and one more thing. At midnight following each execution, once all those who've died that week have woken up, a video will begin to play on screen.

...the former. [And now you know why he seemed hesitant to tell Chizuru.]
derepressed: (the truth is i just don't know)

...

[The truly awful part is that the instant denial that had come so easily whenever Kaoru was suspected of anything before she was killed doesn't come so easily now. She opens her mouth as if to deny it, but no matter how hard she tries, she just can't get the words out.

She can't say "Kaoru would never kill anyone" and mean it with all her heart, because she knows firsthand that he has killed. She can't say that he could never be the True Mastermind, because she knows firsthand that he is cunning and ruthless enough to do it.]

You'll have to understand that... Just this once, Kuzuryuu-san, I hope your suspicions are wrong.

[That, she can say, because she wants to believe in the Kaoru that swore to protect her and wanted so badly to take down the producers. She wants to believe in the Kaoru that was - is? - both her brother and her friend.

The issues between them are just that - between them. She doesn't doubt for a second that Kaoru would hurt her if he could and that he would kill if it was something that would help with his goals, but she regrets lashing out and speaking against him when she'd regained her memories and the pain of remembering was so raw, especially if it means people might suspect him of this now.]
impheired: on me 'cause i got an abrasive personality and am a lil ugly, but that's ok 'cause those are my best qualities. (happy ♚ no one ever has a crush)

I know you do. [He...actually doesn't seem to have a problem with this though? Doesn't even give her one of his usual "people aren't what they seem" rants. He just kinda smiles. There are more to his suspicions than he's letting on, apparently.] We'll just have to wait and see, won't we? We'll know for sure by the end of this trial, one way or another.

...mm.

[She nods, and after a moment she actually manages a smile as well. More than anything else, it's that "kinda smile" that gives her a little bit more hope - because, well, if anyone would be good at identifying someone who is seeming to go along with what the producers want while simultaneously plotting to screw them, it would be Kuzuryuu.

And in the event that Kaoru does turn out to be the mastermind, Chizuru would really like to believe he was only going along with it to screw the producers over the whole time.]

Worrying over it won't do us much good... we can only watch and observe and try to remember anything that seems important, just in case.
impheired: because it has 2x as much ass as any other word. (happy ♚ i like the word assassin)

[personal profile] impheired 2014-08-01 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[HE IS SERIOUSLY HOPING THAT THIS IS THE CASE. Because Kaoru does not strike him as the sort of person to go along with the producer's plans any more than Kuzuryuu himself is that sort of person.]

[Kaoru, you better be a fucking double agent, so help him...]

Yeah. For now, anyway. It's been about a week since I got here, right? Maryam did say we were in the single digits as far as busting out of this place goes. So...

[So hopefully they can help in some way? Soon?]
derepressed: (i'm just humoring you really)

[personal profile] derepressed 2014-08-01 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[She nods.]

About a week, yes. Something will happen soon... I can only hope we're prepared for it on both sides of the screen.

[...then she smiles again.]

I think we'll be okay. I trust all of you - both the living and the dead.

...um, except for Marlowe-san, that is.
