the theatre



You awaken in a darkened theatre.

In front of you is an enormous cinema screen. On it plays everything that's currently happening in the castle, accompanied by appropriate sound effects and background instrumentals when fitting. The seat you're sitting on is large and plush, and while there's many of them, there's enough room in the theatre for you to fully recline the seat into a comfortable bed if you wish. Under each seat is a sleeping mask and noise-cancelling headphones, in case you'd like to take a break from watching the show.

Follow the stairs up and you'll reach what should be the projection room. There are no projectors in here, however; it is simply a large and well-lit room above the main seating area, and a good place to hang out with your fellow eliminated contestants if shouting at each other across the aisles proves too much to handle.

If you leave the theatre through the door in the back, you'll find yourself in a hall. On one end is a concession stand. It's stocked with standard movie snacks - popcorn, candy and the like - but if you're feeling the urge for something else, you'll be able to find it stocked somewhere in the back. On the other end is a table with thirty wrapped bags and a placard reading 'A star for our stars! Please accept these lovely giftbags as a token of appreciation for your hard work, sponsored by [illegible smudge]'. Each bag has a tag bearing the name of someone in the mansion; you will only be able to open the bag with your name on it. As soon as you open it, any memories that have been taken from you, including those of the other people in the mansion that you may have forgotten, will be returned in their entirety. Within the bag are also objects from your home that you may want for your stay here, though you will find no weapons.

Past the hall is another door, this one wooden and seemingly decayed. If you go inside, you'll find a fairly simple, wooden room, that is empty except for a very large machine. It is difficult to tell what the machine is for; it has a touch screen that appears to be a control panel, as well as a large open space that seems to be part of the machine, but the machine is dead and won't turn on no matter what you do.

Still, at least you aren't alone here. You have your fellow players, as well as a few guests to keep you company.

Oh, and one more thing. At midnight following each execution, once all those who've died that week have woken up, a video will begin to play on screen.

[Sunday evening rolls around, and Ryou's feeling a bit better than he had yesterday, if still a little sad. It seems Kouha's verbal beat-down had actually helped, once he stopped reeling over it.

So clearly, now is the time to play games. That always cheers him up, and maybe it'll cheer some other people up too.]

Alright, who wants to play Truth or Dare?

[Rin's been kind of moody lately, but she'll look up at that at least]

Umm, sure. I'll play. ♪

[Who hasn't, at this point? He smiles a little at her when she accepts.]

Great. Do you want to go first?

[roadroller]

Works for me.

[no need to wait; others can just jump in at their leisure]

Truth or dare, Ryou-kun? ♪

Okay, then I pick truth. [He's being daring today... Truths are the real dares to him!]

[roadroller]

Hmm....

Then! What was the twist supposed to be in the campaign I adapted? ♪

[Rin came up with her own thing after all, but she wants to compare]

Ahh, you can't ask that! [He smiles. That was too cruel...! Making him reveal his secrets.]

...Because I hadn't thought of it yet. [Wink!]

[roadroller]

Why not? I already finished writing my version. I was just curious!

... But seriously? How lame! ♪

[For a moment, every judgmental thought Kanaya Maryam has ever had about Ryou Bakura shows on her sallow face.]

I hope you won't be playing this as a drinking game.

KANAYA................... I WISH PLURK WERE UP TOO

[He just blinks in shock at the look he's getting, stammering a little at the accusation.] E-eh?! No way! I'm not old enough to drink...

IT'S UP IN OUR HEARTS...

[Okay, then, Bakura; Kanaya approves.]

Good... the producers prefer us to play that way, I'm glad you're not.

I don't want to do anything the producers want, ever again. [Ryou is firm in that conviction. He's done enough already.]

That's why instead of fighting with each other... We should try to get along.

[Unfortunately he ended up causing a lot of trouble himself, but... He wants to do better now, not just fall back into the same habits.]

[Her eyebrows rise, and her fangs protrude over her lips in a smirk - for the first time Kanaya is proud of him instead of tolerant or indulgent.]

OK. In that case I'll play.

[Ryou smiles in return. He can feel the atmosphere lighten up little, somehow.]

Great! Do you want to go first?

Is this really an appropriate time for a game such as this?

[Peko, even in the wake of the dramatic reveal about the museum, not everyone can compulsively watch Kuzuryuu on screen for hours without getting bored. Don't judge.]

[At least he waited until the next day!! Ryou smiles a little hesitantly at Peko.]

It'll be nice to think about something else for a chance...

I fail to see the point of a game where one option is potentially harmful, and the other implies that one would lie in response to a question in ordinary circumstances.

[Peko 'Fun-Sucker' McGee to the res...cue...]

It's not a lie, it's a question you'd typically refuse to answer because it wouldn't be politely asked.

Kanaya-san is right, and I don't think anybody plans on daring you to do something harmful, Peko-chan... And you could always refuse. But all my dares were going to involve food! The most harmful thing there is a potential allergy.

[Sagely nodding.] And habaneros.

[perfectstrike]

[She just stares at them both, then shakes her head sharply and returns her attention to the screen.]

What made you think of this?

[roadroller]

...Well, to be fair the past contestant thing wasn't news to all of us. ♪

Peko just stares at Rin and frowns, shaking her head.] I don't think it appropriate in any case.

[roadroller]

[staring back...]

Well, what are you doing that's so much better? ♪

[perfectstrike]

Watching over those who are left.

[Peko they're on all the time. All the time. It's okay to take a break.]
