the theatre



You awaken in a darkened theatre.

In front of you is an enormous cinema screen. On it plays everything that's currently happening in the castle, accompanied by appropriate sound effects and background instrumentals when fitting. The seat you're sitting on is large and plush, and while there's many of them, there's enough room in the theatre for you to fully recline the seat into a comfortable bed if you wish. Under each seat is a sleeping mask and noise-cancelling headphones, in case you'd like to take a break from watching the show.

Follow the stairs up and you'll reach what should be the projection room. There are no projectors in here, however; it is simply a large and well-lit room above the main seating area, and a good place to hang out with your fellow eliminated contestants if shouting at each other across the aisles proves too much to handle.

If you leave the theatre through the door in the back, you'll find yourself in a hall. On one end is a concession stand. It's stocked with standard movie snacks - popcorn, candy and the like - but if you're feeling the urge for something else, you'll be able to find it stocked somewhere in the back. On the other end is a table with thirty wrapped bags and a placard reading 'A star for our stars! Please accept these lovely giftbags as a token of appreciation for your hard work, sponsored by [illegible smudge]'. Each bag has a tag bearing the name of someone in the mansion; you will only be able to open the bag with your name on it. As soon as you open it, any memories that have been taken from you, including those of the other people in the mansion that you may have forgotten, will be returned in their entirety. Within the bag are also objects from your home that you may want for your stay here, though you will find no weapons.

Past the hall is another door, this one wooden and seemingly decayed. If you go inside, you'll find a fairly simple, wooden room, that is empty except for a very large machine. It is difficult to tell what the machine is for; it has a touch screen that appears to be a control panel, as well as a large open space that seems to be part of the machine, but the machine is dead and won't turn on no matter what you do.

Still, at least you aren't alone here. You have your fellow players, as well as a few guests to keep you company.

Oh, and one more thing. At midnight following each execution, once all those who've died that week have woken up, a video will begin to play on screen.

I really didn't expect that at all. [Ryou lets out a small laugh as he shakes his head, and when he looks up he's smiling. He's really not a sore loser! He can appreciate the irony of having his own dare turned on him, even if he's still embarrassed. It's not like kissing Rin was the end of the world, even if it kind of felt like it for a minute there.]

I pick truth this time. [Ryou pulls off his shoe and sets it aside.]

... So how was your first kiss? ♪

[SHIT EATING GRIN]

[HE SERIOUSLY CAN'T WIN, CAN HE?!]

Hah?! [Ryou's blushing again.]

[roadroller]

[She just snickers. His reactions are too funny.]

[onethirdthesoul]

W-why do you want to know? [He's pouting indignantly.]

[roadroller]

I'm asking the questions here. [without missing a beat]

[onethirdthesoul]

... [Ryou looks away, mumbling something as his cheeks rise in color. The only thing that can be made out from all of that is..."dokidoki"?!]

[roadroller]

[sure, she'll latch onto that]

Dokidoki!?

[onethirdthesoul]

W-well who wouldn't when you just suddenly kissed them?!

[He will defend this to his second death.]

[roadroller]

I thought you were mad!! ♪

[dokidoki does not sound mad]

[onethirdthesoul]

I was!! [You can be mad and still dokidoki.]

[roadroller]

You don't sound mad. ♪

[he doesn't look it either, she thinks while she pokes his beet red cheeks]

[onethirdthesoul]

[Ryou leans away, pouting again.] That's why it's past tense...

[roadroller]

Oh, so you've already forgiven me? ♪

[she leans back, satisfied.]

[onethirdthesoul]

There's no use in staying upset over something like that. You were just playing the game... [Ryou's mumbling a bit, but he sounds earnest.]

[roadroller]

Right, right. I like the way you think. ♪

[NOTHING MATTERS AS LONG AS YOU WERE PLAYING AROUND.]

[HE'S STILL A LITTLE RUSTLED BY IT, just not mad.]

Right, well... It's your turn, then!

[roadroller]

Hmm... I did two dares in a row, so I'll pick truth this time. ♪

[onethirdthesoul]

Hmm... [He echoes, holding his chin thoughtfully.]

Ah! [Ryou raises his finger as an idea strikes him.] What did you think about your first kiss?

[This is becoming less Truth or Dare and more a cycle of petty revenge...]

[roadroller]

[For a moment, she doesn't respond! It's hard to say if that's because she's embarrassed though.]

[onethirdthesoul]

[He looks at her expectantly.]

[roadroller]

[Oh, right. She was supposed to answer that.]

Heheh! Well, I don't want to brag. But it was really fun! Len and I needed to practice, so we just took each other's first. We got cast as lovers pretty often, you know. ♪

[Her tone is perfectly conversational, without a note out of place. This is probably how she managed to host a spirited game of Monster World even with her twin in her closet.]

[Her brother...?!

Ryou was about to blurt something out, but then the realization hits him with a cold dread. Her brother was dead. He didn't mean to bring that up... Even if Rin seems perfectly cheerful, he can't help but feel out of place himself, like he really screwed up.]

That's unexpected... But I guess it's not that different from two friends kissing, right? Hah...

[He's quick to move on.] I pick dare.
