the theatre

You awaken in a darkened theatre.

In front of you is an enormous cinema screen. On it plays everything that's currently happening in the mansion, accompanied by appropriate sound effects and background instrumentals when fitting. The seat you're sitting on is large and plush, and while there's many of them, there's enough room in the theatre for you to fully recline the seat into a comfortable bed if you wish. Under each seat is a sleeping mask and noise-cancelling headphones, in case you'd like to take a break from watching the show.

Follow the stairs up and you'll reach what should be the projection room. There are no projectors in here, however; it is simply a large and well-lit room above the main seating area, and a good place to hang out with your fellow eliminated contestants if shouting at each other across the aisles proves too much to handle.

If you leave the theatre through the door in the back, you'll find yourself in a hall. On one end is a concession stand. It's stocked with standard movie snacks - popcorn, candy and the like - but if you're feeling the urge for something else, you'll be able to find it stocked somewhere in the back. On the other end is a table with thirty wrapped bags and a placard reading 'A star for our stars! Please accept these lovely giftbags as a token of appreciation for your hard work, sponsored by [illegible smudge]'. Each bag has a tag bearing the name of someone in the mansion; you will only be able to open the bag with your name on it. As soon as you open it, any memories that have been taken from you, including those of the other people in the mansion that you may have forgotten, will be returned in their entirety. Within the bag are also objects from your home that you may want for your stay here, though you will find no weapons.

There are no other doors in the hall save for the one leading back into the theatre room. There are also no windows; it is impossible to tell where you are and what is going on in the outside world. Any attempts to break out will fail. So in the meantime, why not sit back and enjoy the show?

Oh, and one more thing. At midnight following each execution, once all those who've died that week have woken up, a video will begin to play on screen.

Being here has almost been more stressful than being there. [though the lack of pressure from having to maintain his careful facade will always be a bonus of the theater to him...]

...I wouldn't be opposed.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya, chin in hands, looks over, eyes narrowed, at sad Karkat sitting right beside her. Diamond hangs in the air. (Unrequited)

What's it like in that "Japan"? [She's not pronouncing it right but I can't even come up with a funny way for her to be doing so right now, actually the phonetics probably aren't even that incorrect maybe just the stress] I'll have to master a whole new form of fashion to be presentable there...

[something like that would normally manage to get a wan sort of amused smile from him, but he's still kind of reeling from the whole whoops they've been targeting the wrong person the entire game thing. at least he's managed to choke back most of his frothing anger...]

It is a pleasant place to be... [he had never really been hugely prideful of his country before, but he's feeling a little homesick.] To be honest, I still don't understand much of the customs of the West, even after living here for two months. It isn't at all like home... Should you visit, I'll lend you my wardrobe, though. I have no further need for my old clothing.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya looking over at something, not entirely satisfied, flickering. (Calm)

That's right, isn't it? [SHE HAS NO IDEA HOW A JAPANESE MAN DRESSES... after all Gundam and Beat were fairly Western-influenced in their style.] I'd be... [A little creeped out] Honored.

It is something of a relief, really. [okay now he does crack a smile though, he's a master at reading awkward pauses...]

I say so because high quality garments are expensive and difficult to find. Perhaps the pinks and reds would not suit you well, though...
speakveryclearly: Kanaya with faintly upquirked lips and eyebrows at a whimsical Terezi. (Uncertainty)

It depends on the shade. I admit I doubt I could pull off the tints as pale as you were accustomed to wear... [She's almost able to disappear into this discussion.] Are you going to stick to the same hues, now that you can dress as you like?
souredsweet: mewtube (bluebird)

[personal profile] souredsweet 2013-11-24 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
Mm, I'm afraid the shades that I have don't run much darker than that. [likewise, he's more than happy to have something to take his mind off of recent issues. he lapses into thoughtful silence at that, but it's brief.]

I have always preferred darker shades and colors. Black, blues, purples... Those are the things I'll try, I think.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya in red Japanese clothes on a pastel background. Swift strokes. Simple, slight smile. (Ordinary)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-11-24 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
There's something refined about that sort of thing, almost royal... [An approving slight nod.] As long as you aren't encroaching on May's territory in that respect. [#ONLY SURVIVING PRINCESS] What kind of government if any does Japan have?
souredsweet: jackandtink (ZING ur welcome kazama)

[personal profile] souredsweet 2013-11-24 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
I believe that too much overlap can easily be avoided. I'm not royalty, anyway. [a somewhat rueful smile.

it actually becomes a little more rueful at that.]
The human politics are changing often... The government right now is tentative at most, and in battle with the Shogunate.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya rendered with ugly realism, staring at the viewer like rotten meat. (Undead)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-11-24 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
It's like humanity never even learned to revere the organization of an empire.
souredsweet: jackandtink (SURE.....)

[personal profile] souredsweet 2013-11-24 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
[a light, chiming laugh; his expression is actually pretty bitter.]

Humanity does not revere much of anything at all. [don't even get him started on his grudgeboner for humans kanaya DON'T DO IT...]
