the theatre

You awaken in a darkened theatre.

In front of you is an enormous cinema screen. On it plays everything that's currently happening in the mansion, accompanied by appropriate sound effects and background instrumentals when fitting. The seat you're sitting on is large and plush, and while there's many of them, there's enough room in the theatre for you to fully recline the seat into a comfortable bed if you wish. Under each seat is a sleeping mask and noise-cancelling headphones, in case you'd like to take a break from watching the show.

Follow the stairs up and you'll reach what should be the projection room. There are no projectors in here, however; it is simply a large and well-lit room above the main seating area, and a good place to hang out with your fellow eliminated contestants if shouting at each other across the aisles proves too much to handle.

If you leave the theatre through the door in the back, you'll find yourself in a hall. On one end is a concession stand. It's stocked with standard movie snacks - popcorn, candy and the like - but if you're feeling the urge for something else, you'll be able to find it stocked somewhere in the back. On the other end is a table with thirty wrapped bags and a placard reading 'A star for our stars! Please accept these lovely giftbags as a token of appreciation for your hard work, sponsored by [illegible smudge]'. Each bag has a tag bearing the name of someone in the mansion; you will only be able to open the bag with your name on it. As soon as you open it, any memories that have been taken from you, including those of the other people in the mansion that you may have forgotten, will be returned in their entirety. Within the bag are also objects from your home that you may want for your stay here, though you will find no weapons.

There are no other doors in the hall save for the one leading back into the theatre room. There are also no windows; it is impossible to tell where you are and what is going on in the outside world. Any attempts to break out will fail. So in the meantime, why not sit back and enjoy the show?

Oh, and one more thing. At midnight following each execution, once all those who've died that week have woken up, a video will begin to play on screen.

You were that week's intended target, actually. [which he says SO VERY CHEERFULLY.] So it was a good thing that you decided to take matters into your own hands, since being killed would have been a much less intriguing way to bow out.

Either way, I'm far more excited to see the exit interview than any of this investigation rubbish. If that is the case, it's sure to boost the ratings. [the prospect seems to brighten his mood a little.]

I can't even pretend to know how that boy thinks, though. Perhaps their "rivalry" is not as, ah... strong as they made it appear? Or it may simply be his way of coping.

Ah, I knew it! [Siren claps her hands, with a laugh.] Why else would the incentive suddenly become so much more dire as to include nullification of abilities? What a relief, I feel so much better for having tried! [And she did manage to split the vote pretty decently, for her efforts.]

Yes. I am quite curious to understand Miss Nevermind's reasoning for targeting Mr. Poland of all people... of course I am not unopposed to a hanging and a successful scapegoating as well.

Mm... maybe all his ranting of villainy was not merely for show after all?

You should! [since she'd be dead either way, wow, he is so generous.] You know, I was a little irritated about that stroke of luck you had with the sword and ice, but I think I can appreciate it a little more openly now.

There have been so few successful scapegoatings, it's true. I certainly wouldn't mind another... [a thoughtful pause.] Though honestly, the evidence does seem very incriminating.

I doubt he has a decent grasp on anything that isn't for show, but it would not be the first time I have been surprised to see what people are capable of here.

[There's nothing worse than dying as some lowly unpowered peon-- NO REGRETS.]

Given my unfamiliarity with lingering corpses I probably needed that bit of luck more direly than most.

I wonder why most of that incriminating evidence was uncovered by Miss Nevermind herself then.

[and everyone became 100% more satisfied with week 3 in that moment.]

It would seem so. I do not envy you for your lack of knowledge... [and he thought he had it bad off, not knowing what fingerprinting or DNA tests were.]

Hiding in plain sight, I would imagine. It worked perfectly for Spain.
herpreciousrival: (that's nice)

[You don't even know the half of it.]

It seems rather foolish to attempt that again... Hm. [Siren's completely stumped.]

Well, either way I'm sure some light will be shed as soon as the votes have finished being counted.

[except then this happens and he's just sitting there looking surprised. this trial...]

...Well.

It looks like we may have our answer before the votes are counted, after all.
