the theatre

You awaken in a darkened theatre.

In front of you is an enormous cinema screen. On it plays everything that's currently happening in the mansion, accompanied by appropriate sound effects and background instrumentals when fitting. The seat you're sitting on is large and plush, and while there's many of them, there's enough room in the theatre for you to fully recline the seat into a comfortable bed if you wish. Under each seat is a sleeping mask and noise-cancelling headphones, in case you'd like to take a break from watching the show.

Follow the stairs up and you'll reach what should be the projection room. There are no projectors in here, however; it is simply a large and well-lit room above the main seating area, and a good place to hang out with your fellow eliminated contestants if shouting at each other across the aisles proves too much to handle.

If you leave the theatre through the door in the back, you'll find yourself in a hall. On one end is a concession stand. It's stocked with standard movie snacks - popcorn, candy and the like - but if you're feeling the urge for something else, you'll be able to find it stocked somewhere in the back. On the other end is a table with thirty wrapped bags and a placard reading 'A star for our stars! Please accept these lovely giftbags as a token of appreciation for your hard work, sponsored by [illegible smudge]'. Each bag has a tag bearing the name of someone in the mansion; you will only be able to open the bag with your name on it. As soon as you open it, any memories that have been taken from you, including those of the other people in the mansion that you may have forgotten, will be returned in their entirety. Within the bag are also objects from your home that you may want for your stay here, though you will find no weapons.

There are no other doors in the hall save for the one leading back into the theatre room. There are also no windows; it is impossible to tell where you are and what is going on in the outside world. Any attempts to break out will fail. So in the meantime, why not sit back and enjoy the show?

Oh, and one more thing. At midnight following each execution, once all those who've died that week have woken up, a video will begin to play on screen.

I guess that's nice enough to do something like that... Or maybe a walk outside would do me some good.

[At Spain's name he lets out a quiet sound of disgust and looks away]

Guess it just goes to show that everyone who's nice just turns out to be terrible people. I wouldn't be surprised if Miss Nagumo and Mr. Lithuania are awful too.

[He really hopes they're not but right now he's fairly disillusioned]

I don't know... Miss Rapture seemed to suggest he was very superstitious. Maybe he took those nightmares too seriously...

I don't know about outside... But you can take your time here, yes.

[...]

That depends on how you define terrible, but things are much easier to see on a black and white scale. I won't convince you of otherwise, but given how stressful everything must've been, you could just tune out the entire display until this game's end. Why not go grab your bag, explore around, then strap on a pair of noise-cancelling headphones? Ignoring that manor for some time should do you some good, I think.

[quirking a brow!] Do you really think so? It's alright if you don't care, we could pick up the subject later, once you calm down for a bit and start getting bored.

What do you mean you don't know about outside? Isn't there a balcony or a patio or something?

I don't know... I mean I thought you were kind and patient and then you...

[He shakes his head and tries to move onto something else]

Now that I know I can go home I just want to go already. I'm sure my secretary is probably worried about me, and after all the stress of being in that house I want to be somewhere comfortable and familiar.

I haven't found any means to get out since I got here, I think we're stuck inside, unfortunately. There aren't even any windows, but if you can overlook the fact that we have no connection to the outside world, this theater isn't too terrible.

[She laughs.]

Haven't figured it out yet? I was a designated killer, contacted by the producer the morning after we were informed of the game. Kanaya too actually, it wasn't obvious because her incentive was very important to her. I'm not too fond of getting told what to do, but terms are terms. Although I suppose I did overdo it, stretching the limits to this manor and got people too indignant to focus on the bigger picture.

[a small shrug, as she rolls her head!]

Go take a nap. You really could use it.

Are you serious...? How can you stand it in here?

[And he just lets out a startled squeak at that]

Th-There were designated killers? And you... Why did it have to be Belarus! It could have been anyone but her! Wasn't Mr. Altman enough? Why not bucther him instead!

[He really could use that nap but at this point you'd pretty much have to force him]
aozaki: (◆ go sit down over there)

[personal profile] aozaki 2013-11-09 08:29 am (UTC)(link)
I manage, I've been in worse.

[...goodness. giving a small sigh, she rests one hand by her hip.]

Remember the two special targets with extra prizes mentioned on the bulletin board that week? They were Belarus and Yuzu Aihara. We were ordered by the producer up front to prioritize those targets, so I went along with it.

[a beat.]

It truly was luck, I'm sorry; I've absolutely nothing against miss Belarus, she simply happened to drop by the bar at the wrong time that night. I've wondered myself what spurred on those sudden announcements, and isn't it weird too, that Yuzu-chan was trapped inside the Smoking Room at the end of the trial? Almost feels rigged, I wonder if the same wouldn't have happened to Belarus if Altman was the only victim.

[...

sighing, she shrugs.]

Even stranger still, that I've seen everyone here who've died from previous weeks except her and Yuzu. Only the higher-ups know at this point, I suppose.
balzams: (Upset ● Crying)

[personal profile] balzams 2013-11-09 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
You didn't have to go that far though! Why couldn't you just let her die peacefully? She didn't deserve that! She... She should be here with everyone else!

[Combined with the stress of the trial he can't help but start crying. Out of everyone in the manor... Latvia had been projecting a lot of his own desires onto Ukraine but Belarus had actually been his friend]
aozaki: (◆ where's that coffee)

[personal profile] aozaki 2013-11-10 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
She died the same way Altman did. [her resistance to poison did her disservice, but touko isn't going to say that out loud.]

She should, yes. Altman hasn't shown either, strangely, but that's completely out of my control.

[Chest heaving a little, she turns around.]

You shouldn't be here, we all knew that from the first day. I apologize about your friend for what it's worth, but with how people are randomly selected and how designated killers are ordered to focus on deadweight and dispensables, this was never going to be a pleasant run.

[a beat.]

Get some rest. You don't need to hear more from me.

[Latvia wants to keep arguing about this that and the other but it isn't going to change what happened or bring anyone back. Instead he opens his mouth as if to say something and quickly shuts it again, before storming off into one of the other rooms]
