the theater - part ii

the theatre

You awaken in a darkened theatre.

In front of you is an enormous cinema screen. On it plays everything that's currently happening in the mansion, accompanied by appropriate sound effects and background instrumentals when fitting. The seat you're sitting on is large and plush, and while there's many of them, there's enough room in the theatre for you to fully recline the seat into a comfortable bed if you wish. Under each seat is a sleeping mask and noise-cancelling headphones, in case you'd like to take a break from watching the show.

Follow the stairs up and you'll reach what should be the projection room. There are no projectors in here, however; it is simply a large and well-lit room above the main seating area, and a good place to hang out with your fellow eliminated contestants if shouting at each other across the aisles proves too much to handle.

If you leave the theatre through the door in the back, you'll find yourself in a hall. On one end is a concession stand. It's stocked with standard movie snacks - popcorn, candy and the like - but if you're feeling the urge for something else, you'll be able to find it stocked somewhere in the back. On the other end is a table with thirty wrapped bags and a placard reading 'A star for our stars! Please accept these lovely giftbags as a token of appreciation for your hard work, sponsored by [illegible smudge]'. Each bag has a tag bearing the name of someone in the mansion; you will only be able to open the bag with your name on it. As soon as you open it, any memories that have been taken from you, including those of the other people in the mansion that you may have forgotten, will be returned in their entirety. Within the bag are also objects from your home that you may want for your stay here, though you will find no weapons.

There are no other doors in the hall save for the one leading back into the theatre room. There are also no windows; it is impossible to tell where you are and what is going on in the outside world. Any attempts to break out will fail. So in the meantime, why not sit back and enjoy the show?

[FROM SOMEWHERE NEAR THE SCREEN:]

Thank you.

[Oh good at least Kaoru hasn't given up.]

No, dziękuję.

Mm. [Kaoru is too stubborn to know when to give up...]

So are you going to sit there, or are you going to help me look for an exit? [it'll be like that time they searched the drawing room together but with more desperation!]

[Oh how the tables have turned.] Weren't you the one making fun of me for that when I got here?

[Poland gets up, but pauses to regard what's happening on the screen in the manor.] It's not over.
souredsweet: mewtube (dead end)

[personal profile] souredsweet 2013-12-02 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
We weren't in a death-or-permanent-death situation when you got here. [which totally makes sense okay go away poland!!

he follows his gaze to the screen though, setting one hand at his hip. that is one angryass smile on his face, but there's something very determined in it, too.]
Of course it isn't. Defeat at this point in the game would really be unacceptable, right?

[personal profile] notyetlost 2013-12-02 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
Totally unacceptable.

[Poland's not sure they're going to find a way out on their own, but he is sure that they have the opportunity to be saved.]

The true Mastermind is still out there. Once they solve who killed Liet, I'm sure ratings will jump.

[Kaoru isn't too optimistic about that now that he realizes how tenuous that promise had been in the first place. they never even saw the numbers - the decision could be as arbitrary as "no, not high enough".]

They had better be able to manage that much. ...But they have outlasted us all, so it isn't completely hopeless.
notyetlost: (^_^)

[personal profile] notyetlost 2013-12-02 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
[Whatever un-cute Doris said is null and void.]

They solved almost everything that was thrown at them, save for two cases. And those were super close. Spain even managed to delay long enough at Lithuania's trial to figure out he wasn't really the Mastermind.

I have like full confidence that they can do it.

They had better. If I have to suffer through execution but this last murderer gets away, I won't forgive any of them.

[even if they will probably be Dead For Real at that point...]
notyetlost: (lame lame lame)

[personal profile] notyetlost 2013-12-02 06:01 am (UTC)(link)
[Poland gropes at the theater walls.]

I wonder what their reason was for bringing all of us here.
souredsweet: jackandtink (???)

[personal profile] souredsweet 2013-12-02 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
[looking under some seats...]

Do you not think that the only reason is because they needed fodder for their show?
notyetlost: (?)

[personal profile] notyetlost 2013-12-02 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe.

Liet said that someone was totally benefiting from all of this stupidity somehow. I'm just wondering what was worth sacrificing so many people. [Aliens. Demons. Robots. Nations.]
souredsweet: mewtube (unjust)

[personal profile] souredsweet 2013-12-02 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
[Kaoru's opinion is, unsurprisingly, not a single thing.]

And if it is all just for entertainment? If there isn't anything more to this than providing a "good show" for a bunch of humans?
notyetlost: http://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=medium&illust_id=6968386&tag=APH%E6%BC%AB%E7%94%BB (hmmmm)

[personal profile] notyetlost 2013-12-02 06:58 am (UTC)(link)
Why would they have rigged everything so much then?

Liet didn't have any chance of winning at all, but he said that in previous games that wasn't the case for the mastermind's role.

And they made him encourage you guys to after all the weaker contestants, when you'd of had a way better shot of succeeding if you'd been able to take out those higher up.

Is that not what it takes to have a good show? Trust me, if those rules had not been in place, we would have started with the strongest contestants and gotten rid of as many as possible as quickly as possible. That wouldn't have been a show at all, right? It would have been a massacre.
notyetlost: (can't touch this)

[personal profile] notyetlost 2013-12-03 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
[Poland considered himself one of the stronger contestants-- definitely debatable.]

Meh. I totally could have taken you.

[poland don't make him regret talking kanaya out of poisoning you!!]

Me specifically? You may want to rethink that, given how many times you ate or drank something I handed you.

[personal profile] notyetlost 2013-12-03 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
If you'd poisoned me, you'd of regretted it.

[If Touko's experiment with Belarus was any indication.]
souredsweet: jackandtink (Default)

[personal profile] souredsweet 2013-12-03 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
But would I have regretted it more than I regret picking Beat?

[BECAUSE HE REALLY REGRETS THAT. why did Beat have to be the only feasible target for his plan why]
notyetlost: (white ribbon)

[personal profile] notyetlost 2013-12-03 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
I guess we'll never know.
souredsweet: jackandtink (Default)

[personal profile] souredsweet 2013-12-03 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
Lucky for you. [he's still stuck with Beat!! some people just can't take being brutally manipulated and killed with grace, gosh.

he disappears for a second after that, though, dropping down to check the front row of seats.]
notyetlost: (i am rocking this sweater)

[personal profile] notyetlost 2013-12-03 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
[Poland laughs, genuinely amused that Kaoru considers him the lucky one in that scenario.

Ah well.]

Find anything other than chewed up gumwads yet?
souredsweet: jackandtink (left behind)

[personal profile] souredsweet 2013-12-03 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
[he's too busy looking at chewed up gumwads to cast Poland a glare for that laugh, but he is totally sending one in spirit. after a few seconds of silence there's a big, loud sigh.]

Nothing yet, no. Maybe Touko can make a door or something... [all he knows is that she does MAGIC. surely that'll come in handy!!]
