the theatre

You awaken in a darkened theatre.

In front of you is an enormous cinema screen. On it plays everything that's currently happening in the mansion, accompanied by appropriate sound effects and background instrumentals when fitting. The seat you're sitting on is large and plush, and while there's many of them, there's enough room in the theatre for you to fully recline the seat into a comfortable bed if you wish. Under each seat is a sleeping mask and noise-cancelling headphones, in case you'd like to take a break from watching the show.

Follow the stairs up and you'll reach what should be the projection room. There are no projectors in here, however; it is simply a large and well-lit room above the main seating area, and a good place to hang out with your fellow eliminated contestants if shouting at each other across the aisles proves too much to handle.

If you leave the theatre through the door in the back, you'll find yourself in a hall. On one end is a concession stand. It's stocked with standard movie snacks - popcorn, candy and the like - but if you're feeling the urge for something else, you'll be able to find it stocked somewhere in the back. On the other end is a table with thirty wrapped bags and a placard reading 'A star for our stars! Please accept these lovely giftbags as a token of appreciation for your hard work, sponsored by [illegible smudge]'. Each bag has a tag bearing the name of someone in the mansion; you will only be able to open the bag with your name on it. As soon as you open it, any memories that have been taken from you, including those of the other people in the mansion that you may have forgotten, will be returned in their entirety. Within the bag are also objects from your home that you may want for your stay here, though you will find no weapons.

There are no other doors in the hall save for the one leading back into the theatre room. There are also no windows; it is impossible to tell where you are and what is going on in the outside world. Any attempts to break out will fail. So in the meantime, why not sit back and enjoy the show?

Oh, and one more thing. At midnight following each execution, once all those who've died that week have woken up, a video will begin to play on screen.

body discovery reaction!

[watching this unfold on the screen...]

...My, it looks like someone else will have to work on uncovering the mastermind.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya looks down at a computer screen casting purple light on her intense face. (Serious)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-11-13 07:38 am (UTC)(link)
[Glued to the edge of her adjacent seat, absolutely amazed by the ongoing action, and for a good while doesn't come up with something to say. Almost more for the sake of making a remark than considering whether the content is entirely relevant let alone sensitive:]

Well, this will probably be another trial during which Lithuania isn't a suspect.
balzams: (Surprise ● Realization)

[personal profile] balzams 2013-11-13 07:45 am (UTC)(link)
Actually he just might be this time... Heck, I was a subject during Belarus's trial.

[For once he actually finds himself incredibly attentive to what's going on on the screen. As much as Latvia wanted to watch more drama between the two he can't help but feel a little sorry for Lithuania]

Either way, he's pretty much past the point of no return now. I wonder what he'll do if they find the suspect.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya very serious over a needle and thread in her hand and mouth. (Determined)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-11-13 07:57 am (UTC)(link)
[She takes a moment to realize Latvia is talking and give him her attention. Then she worries at her lips with her fang before talking awkwardly.]

Does Earth culture have a sensitive way to say "probably something that will increase ratings"? Can you please imagine I expressed that speculation in the manner most sympathetic to his plight as possible.
balzams: (Uneasy ● Unwanted)

[personal profile] balzams 2013-11-13 08:01 am (UTC)(link)
Not really, but it's what's on everyone's minds so I think it's okay to come out and say it anyway.

But it does look like we're close to something interesting. Hopefully it'll be enough to get us all out of here.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya squishes her cheek and looks down with effusive fondness into her lap, unable to hide a scattered glow. (Flattered)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-11-14 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Like the identity of the mastermind???
balzams: (Smile ● Anxious)

[personal profile] balzams 2013-11-14 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
... I was thinking more along the lines of someone breaking down on television but that too.

After this there'll only be eight players left probably, they'll have to be ending it soon.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya with mercilessly raised eyebrows and a wide smirk on her teasing lips. (Smug)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-11-14 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you really think it's that likely Lithuania will throttle the killer?
balzams: (Smile ● Alright)

[personal profile] balzams 2013-11-15 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
[He tries not to seem amused by the thought]

Probably. If not literally, at the very least he'll be sure to give them hell.

Lithuania isn't one to get angry easily but when he does... You really don't want to be on the receiving end of it.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya with faintly upquirked lips and eyebrows at a whimsical Terezi. (Uncertainty)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-11-15 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
I guess you saw that happen? In... a war, is that what you'd call it?
balzams: (Surprise ● Unpredicted)

[personal profile] balzams 2013-11-16 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Something like that... Not necessarily on the battlefield though. Wars are more than guns and human casualties, not that they should be looked over but...

[He shakes his head and quickly tries to steer the conversation elsewhere]

A-Anyway! I'm sure he'll net us some high ratings, and they'll probably find the mastermind soon too. People don't like stories where it fizzles out with no conclusion.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya looking up, flickering gently, thoughtful. (Learning)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-11-17 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
You're right, a known awful resolution would impact their DVD sales.
balzams: (Thoughtful ● Serious)

[personal profile] balzams 2013-11-17 09:58 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly, even if they lose as long as the ending is dramatic enough it should get enough ratings to get us out of here. Although people do love seeing the underdogs win...

But now they've made mention of a mastermind they have to introduce them now no matter what. There's no point in foreshadowing it if they're never going to show who it is.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya very serious over a needle and thread in her hand and mouth. (Determined)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-11-17 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
The mastermind, whoever he or she is... has to have been here all along. Kaoru and I remember that for a fact - we received instructions at times from that vile person.

One way or another that identity will be discovered. The numbers are too small now for nothing to occur.

souredsweet: jackandtink (where it begins)

[personal profile] souredsweet 2013-11-13 08:02 am (UTC)(link)
They would be missing out on a large opportunity for these coveted "high ratings" if he was left off of the suspect list.

[WHAT A TRAINWRECK. Kaoru doesn't even feel entirely bad for Poland knowing that he'll just be able to come hang out in this super swanky theater, but the prospect of a trial for Poland's murder with Lithuania of all people on the suspect list seems to amuse him a fair amount.]
speakveryclearly: Kanaya sits at a vanity table pursing her lips to apply lipstick. (Indifference)

Taking place after Latvia jumped in and the suspects went up...

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-11-14 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Yet here we are without him on the stand nonetheless.
souredsweet: jackandtink (this is terrible company)

[personal profile] souredsweet 2013-11-14 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
A missed opportunity, indeed. [a sigh!] I only hope that Felicia is not responsible. I would not wish to hear her complaints for the duration of our stay. [it seems like he might leave it at that, but after a pause, his brow furrows.]

With Anastasia dead, is Lithuania now the only person who hasn't yet been a suspect?
speakveryclearly: Kanaya rendered with ugly realism, staring at the viewer like rotten meat. (Undead)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-11-14 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
He certainly is. How strange. It lands credence to Rapture's theory... but why would he let this happen were that the case?

Either way, I am absolutely positive Felicia had nothing to do with this. Her approach is too workmanlike. There isn't a criminal bone in her body.

[personal profile] souredsweet 2013-11-14 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
That was said about plenty of us before we landed here, you know. [a look of vague, fleeting amusement.] I believe we have long since found that everyone has their price. Even with her moral outlook, perhaps the idea of saving all from the illness would be enough to motivate her.

But, I do agree with what has been said about the scene being too manufactured for it to line up with any plan that wasn't thorough. I do not believe her capable of such a feat. As for Lithuania... Well, I suppose the theory will become more or less credible as the trial proceeds. It should be interesting regardless.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya rendered with ugly realism, staring at the viewer like rotten meat. (Undead)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-11-14 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
There's a difference between - I don't actually know Marlow or Stilinski well enough to be definitive, I guess.

After the trial's conclusion there will be a one in eight chance that proves true. I wonder...?
souredsweet: jackandtink (still water)

[personal profile] souredsweet 2013-11-14 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Alice seems the only one pragmatic enough to pull it off. It would explain how the killer got the crossbow, as well. [a shrug.]

We're running out of potential suspects for the producer, anyway. If they are part of the suspect list and get executed one day, I wonder if we would be able to kill them even here.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya stares up at Gamzee, who is grinning, with flat jade lips and resigned eyes. (Tolerance)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-11-15 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
Though that idea has merit, our tools are quite limited. Unless you want to choke him with soda?
souredsweet: jackandtink (SURE.....)

We're nothing if not creative. I am certain that between all of us, a suitable method can be found.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya with a kissable black smile and tired, Kill Me Now eyes. (Volatile)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-11-15 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
You and I have speed on our side, at least...

Are you really sure it could work, though? If we were preserved such as to end up here, I mean.
souredsweet: jackandtink (serenities)

[personal profile] souredsweet 2013-11-15 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
I do not see what we could lose by giving it a good try. Regardless of the outcome, I feel as though it would be a good way to relieve stress.
