the theatre

You awaken in a darkened theatre.

In front of you is an enormous cinema screen. On it plays everything that's currently happening in the mansion, accompanied by appropriate sound effects and background instrumentals when fitting. The seat you're sitting on is large and plush, and while there's many of them, there's enough room in the theatre for you to fully recline the seat into a comfortable bed if you wish. Under each seat is a sleeping mask and noise-cancelling headphones, in case you'd like to take a break from watching the show.

Follow the stairs up and you'll reach what should be the projection room. There are no projectors in here, however; it is simply a large and well-lit room above the main seating area, and a good place to hang out with your fellow eliminated contestants if shouting at each other across the aisles proves too much to handle.

If you leave the theatre through the door in the back, you'll find yourself in a hall. On one end is a concession stand. It's stocked with standard movie snacks - popcorn, candy and the like - but if you're feeling the urge for something else, you'll be able to find it stocked somewhere in the back. On the other end is a table with thirty wrapped bags and a placard reading 'A star for our stars! Please accept these lovely giftbags as a token of appreciation for your hard work, sponsored by [illegible smudge]'. Each bag has a tag bearing the name of someone in the mansion; you will only be able to open the bag with your name on it. As soon as you open it, any memories that have been taken from you, including those of the other people in the mansion that you may have forgotten, will be returned in their entirety. Within the bag are also objects from your home that you may want for your stay here, though you will find no weapons.

There are no other doors in the hall save for the one leading back into the theatre room. There are also no windows; it is impossible to tell where you are and what is going on in the outside world. Any attempts to break out will fail. So in the meantime, why not sit back and enjoy the show?

Oh, and one more thing. At midnight following each execution, once all those who've died that week have woken up, a video will begin to play on screen.

[it's a shame that there are very few places to run and hide from angry murder victims in a theatre with no exits or he would take this time to book it and never look back...

NEXT BEST THING is just backpedalling to the super cozy designated killer corner while Beat is busy fighting Popcorn Bucket.]

We shall see if you can catch me off guard a second time! Though I believe it would be much more beneficial to you if you simply focus on one thing in any given day, as you surely cannot have room for more.
respecting: (guess I'm over it)

[personal profile] respecting 2013-11-11 08:45 am (UTC)(link)
[what is the designated killer corner, are you hiding behind touko and kanaya??

Beat lands and flings the bucket off, spitting out a piece of popcorn that had ended up in his mouth. It was stale.]

Tch! I can do whatever I put my mind to! Just you wait, you drag turkey!
souredsweet: jackandtink (where it begins)

[personal profile] souredsweet 2013-11-11 08:57 am (UTC)(link)
[what of course not he's not that much of a coward!! but Touko is probably nearby popcorn.gifing because Touko.

also sadly Beat's golden insult flies right over Kaoru's head because what is modern slang.]

I'm sure you can! As long as you put it to one thing at a time, anyway. [here he will chuck a box of skittles toward Beat, too, isn't he nice. Beat will have a whole snack cabinet by the end of this.] Perhaps I should make this task easier for you to achieve and simply stand in this spot for you?
speakveryclearly: Kanaya talking calmly, possibly reiterating orders. Jade lipstick. (Words)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-11-11 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
A good conclusion to draw. What kind of function is that drug supposed to serve, anyway?
balzams: (Thoughtful ● Daydreaming)

[personal profile] balzams 2013-11-11 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
If that was really the case they could have given us a bit more help...

I suppose it's only natural to want there to be a point. I don't think anyone wants to believe that humanity is cruel for no reason, no matter what Mr. Tanaka might say...
balzams: (Thoughtful ● Daydreaming)

[personal profile] balzams 2013-11-11 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
'What the hell' indeed...

I'm honestly surprised you lasted as long as you did.

[Considering what Kaoru revealed about his murder...]
balzams: (Thoughtful ● Daydreaming)

[personal profile] balzams 2013-11-11 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Why do you suspect Mr. Stilinski so much? If you don't mind me asking...

To me none of them really stand out.
motheringnation: (I don't think I like that)

[personal profile] motheringnation 2013-11-12 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
...Hmm...I think I'm trying to think of who would be the last person people would suspect really.

And he's also only been in a trial once and wasn't really considered one of the biggest suspects in it.

Mostly because he seems the least likely...
respecting: (guess I'm over it)

[personal profile] respecting 2013-11-12 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
[he blinks, then scoffs and gives Latvia a pissy look. That's such a rude thing to say.]

Oh yeah, well same to you, Shivers.

[Beat sinks into the chair, sulking.]
souredsweet: mewtube (soaking up the sleep)

[personal profile] souredsweet 2013-11-12 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose that would be too anticlimactic as well. The show runners are picky. [and also rude...

anyway, he's looking pretty displeased now. ultra pessimist!!]
Gundam certainly has little idea of what he speaks, but he has made a proper point in saying that humanity can be cruel for little to no reason.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya with a kissable black smile and tired, Kill Me Now eyes. (Volatile)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-11-12 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
Ahaha... I've given up on even that much hope. I just hope they suffer in a stylish and dignified fashion.

It's almost over now, though, isn't it? With May's classification there are only twice as many players left as our group contained at the outset... I think. The rankings are down to two in each category now...

The notion of the finale frankly terrifies me but at least you and I can go into it knowing we did all we could. Or at least you did - you had planned for the trial so much better.
souredsweet: jackandtink (summer air)

[personal profile] souredsweet 2013-11-12 07:46 am (UTC)(link)
Stylish and dignified... I feel as though that could not be the case either. [and he actually looks vaguely sympathetic for a second.] Your own end was quite gruesome.

But that is about correct, I believe. This game has certainly gone on past its prime; I will be glad to see it over. [both brows arch briefly.] Ah... Is that the impression you got? Actually, my plans went wrong from the very start. I was planning on killing Beat and framing Rapture but Gundam got in the way before things could progress that far. Everything you saw was improvised within the day, to be honest. [his shoulders raise and fall.] Your move, on the other hand, was ingenious. I do need to thank you for sparing me from taking the stand alongside you, though, and your note as well.

[though with the state of his hair since she's left, it's probably become apparent that he never really needed help putting it up at all.]
speakveryclearly: Kanaya in monochrome looking to her right with a soft, smug expression and closed lips. (Pleased)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-11-12 08:41 am (UTC)(link)
[Even in death she will retain the illusion that it was her guidance which helped him learn how to fix hair himself... let her have these small comforts.]

At least you had thought in advance of whom to frame - heh, we kind of had the opposite approaches in that respect.

[Her lip quirks up in empathetic mirror of his pity before falling again with the weight of the topic.]

I really do not understand why being... devoured... [Faintly shaking from flashbacks] It was a common element, wasn't it? For our group. Touko and the wolves, you just now... will it happen to the others too? I can't remember if it would fit them...
souredsweet: mewtube (living ghost)

[personal profile] souredsweet 2013-11-12 08:55 am (UTC)(link)
[okay kanaya you keep that small comfort, he can give that much.]

Mm, now that you mention it, it seems that we did. It is a shame that we were not yet at a point of collaboration by the time you took the fall... [his own shoulders seem to tense a little at the topic they're on. that execution had dredged up some pretty unpleasant memories.]

...I suppose that we will know soon enough, given our success rate. The deaths of Reiko and Bernkastel were not without cruelty, but... that theme does seem to be reserved for members of our own. [and then, looking almost troubled:] How frustrating, being unable to recall someone I spent seven weeks with.
aozaki: (◆ snerk)

[personal profile] aozaki 2013-11-12 08:58 am (UTC)(link)
[oh come on THAT'S A CLASSIC]

I could test it right now. [eyeing a bag of innocuous popcorn close to them...] Setting her hair on fire might be tempting too, although that may be too juvenile.

[said with a perfectly straight face, touko no]

Enjoy the trainwreck. The atmosphere's starkly different, on this side of the screen.
souredsweet: mewtube (overexposed)

[personal profile] souredsweet 2013-11-12 09:09 am (UTC)(link)
[LIKE HE KNOWS THAT!! he had to keep using that ice box too man how gross

but he sees that eyeing and he will helpfully reach over, pluck the bag up and hand it out for her to take.]

Here you are. As for being juvenile, I believe that in this case it would be considered an eye for an eye. [also said with a perfectly straight face, good job champs. his expression seems to light up a little at that, though.]

It is... Certainly, the lack of pressing moral obligations on this side seems to have made everyone much more relaxed. [EXCEPT BEAT.] With how miserable those last two weeks were, I am grateful for the break.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya with pursed, green lips, looking up at the sky skeptically. Offscreen her hand is on her hip. (Tch)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-11-12 09:09 am (UTC)(link)
Not yet...? [So they came to work together better later - a development completely unseen by her with the other members forgotten and meetings not broadcasted. Her shoulders loosen; she remembers being very concerned about the fate of one member in particular whose absence suggests having yet to take a turn.]

I have to admit that cognitive dissonance is one of the afterlife's worst attributes. Do you know how frustrating it got watching you play the game, Touko and I sure you would find strength somewhere along the line, but only having memories of your façade to fall back on? ...

If we tried hard enough between the three of us we could probably read between the lines - I don't think, though, the producers would like that train of thought very much.
souredsweet: mewtube (soaking up the sleep)

[personal profile] souredsweet 2013-11-12 09:17 am (UTC)(link)
We... reached a mutual understanding of sorts, I believe. [though he feels a little agitated at that and can't entirely understand why, assuming it has something to do with one of his forgotten comrades.] By the time of my own death, the producer was the target of most vehemence.

Ah, well, I do hope that you are at least slightly relieved now that you can recall me in full. Though it turns out I was not capable enough to live, even so... [a sloping shrug.] It must have been nerve-racking to watch, that trial.

...You are most likely correct in that assumption, though. I doubt they would make it so easy for us.
agentx13: (a: smile : concerned)

[personal profile] agentx13 2013-11-13 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
Funny you should say that, but I think hell would have more real estate. And a worse concession stand.

Hey, Beat.
agentx13: (a: smile : hair behind ears)

[personal profile] agentx13 2013-11-13 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
[ Sharon grins at her. ]

I thought you'd get away with it for a while.
souredsweet: mewtube (onward still)

[personal profile] souredsweet 2013-11-13 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
[Kaoru looks a little surprised to hear Sharon's voice, glancing over with both brows raised.]

Oh? ...I wish that I had, if only to spare me from that exit interview. [the truest shame!! in reality Kaoru is still pretty bitter about everything that happened, but the reveal that his incentive was kind of fake all along and the inevitability of his position as a designated killer leading to death has mellowed his temper a bit.] I hope it was a good show, at least.
souredsweet: jackandtink (this is terrible company)

body discovery reaction!

[personal profile] souredsweet 2013-11-13 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
[watching this unfold on the screen...]

...My, it looks like someone else will have to work on uncovering the mastermind.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya looks down at a computer screen casting purple light on her intense face. (Serious)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-11-13 07:38 am (UTC)(link)
[Glued to the edge of her adjacent seat, absolutely amazed by the ongoing action, and for a good while doesn't come up with something to say. Almost more for the sake of making a remark than considering whether the content is entirely relevant let alone sensitive:]

Well, this will probably be another trial during which Lithuania isn't a suspect.
balzams: (Surprise ● Realization)

[personal profile] balzams 2013-11-13 07:45 am (UTC)(link)
Actually he just might be this time... Heck, I was a subject during Belarus's trial.

[For once he actually finds himself incredibly attentive to what's going on on the screen. As much as Latvia wanted to watch more drama between the two he can't help but feel a little sorry for Lithuania]

Either way, he's pretty much past the point of no return now. I wonder what he'll do if they find the suspect.
balzams: (Thoughtful ● Daydreaming)

[personal profile] balzams 2013-11-13 07:50 am (UTC)(link)
Really? I think people can be cruel for incredibly selfish reasons but not for no reason entirely. On the other hand, you also have people capable of acts of incredible kindness.

When you lump all of humanity together you can't really say if people are good or bad, most people are just trying to get on with their lives as best they can. It'd say they're neutral more than anything.

[Of course, these past few weeks have been rather peculiar circumstances]
