8:40 Kitchen
Also the sink. A bloody murder generally means a bloody murderer. While she's here on the first floor, might as well see if the murderer somehow decided to go back down to the first floor to clean up and return their weapon. It's a long shot, but, well, she's here.]

Knives, right? I can help.
no subject
She closes a drawer and looks back to him, brushing a bit of hair back as she adds,] I inventoried the knives on Tuesday. It's possible one may be missing, but I cannot be completely certain of that.
[She... thinks?? That her count was right and she remembers it correctly, but she might be mistaken. Pls confirm if possible.]
no subject
I don't think it'd be a coincidence that you think one's missing during this.
no subject
[And the kitchen is a fairly logical place. Then again, they could have used their own knife as well. It Is A Mystery.]
Still, it is worth noting. Where were you prior to coming here?
no subject
Now we have something, right? The only way to figure out if a knife is missing to look for it.
no subject
Excuse me...
I... took a knife on Tuesday. I thought... I thought it would be...
[The girl speaking looks as if she's about to faint.]
S-So... there may be a few missing...
whoops puts this here instead
Yes. Before you go, can you tell me how many wounds were inflicted on the body? If there was a large amount of blood, an artery may have been severed, which would coat the murderer in blood as well.
A messy kill is either sending a message, or the word of someone inexperienced. In these circumstances, my guess would be on the latt--
[And then the voice. Pekoyama yanks her sword case off her back without drawing anything out of it.]
Where is the knife now?
Re: whoops puts this here instead
Uh, there were multiple. In the chest, which was covered with a lot of blood, yeah.
[ But at the news of multiple knives missing, Ian gives her a suspicious look. ]

If they've read her information card, they will note that the one spell she knows is to make objects unable to be removed from a surface.]
...It's here.
B-But I haven't touched it since! I... came here to put it back after I heard.
[Which was horrifically guilty in hindsight.]
It might not even be a knife from this kitchen! The wounds - they might not match.
[They should probably compare.]
no subject
Perhaps. I have not looked at the body myself.
[At least she doesn't look like she plans to take the knife from Glinda, which is a... plus?]
Gallagher. You were uncomfortable around the body. Would you be able to guard this area for a little longer to see if anyone else attempts to return a weapon? Upland. Come with me. We should compare the wounds.
[Pekoyama who put you in charge. You're being rude to everyone.]
no subject
Yeah, sure. Just tell me the results, alright?
no subject
[She really thinks she should guard the kitchen with the nice young man who also doesn't want to see the body, but Glinda's voice abandons her about this time and she trails off into vague murmurings.
Well someone has to be in charge, anyway, and she'll go along limply if Pekoyama attempts to steer her upstairs.]
no subject
[Pekoyama will definitely insist on her going upstairs. In front of her, too, since she does still have that knife.
Once upstairs at the body, she attempts to avoid stepping in the blood as much as possible. It's about half an hour after the discovery, so some of it should be dry enough to walk on without her getting it all over her shoes. She wants to look at the wounds themselves, holding out a hand back to Glinda.]
Your knife, please.
1/2
I-I... It's really...
[Give her about a half second while she suddenly slumps backwards to the floor.]
2/2
Bizarrely, about 3 seconds later, she springs up again with wild eyes.]
No I'm awake don't kill me no one touch me!
[...OK well then another 2 seconds before she comes back to her senses.]
...Oh.
Er.
Yes. The knife.
[Have the knife, Pekoyama.]
no subject
Pekoyama looks so incredibly done with this entire situation, but she isn't even going to comment on that immediately.]
Thank you.
[She's just going to compare the knife to the wounds on the body. Any similarities?]
no subject
no subject
Is it...?
no subject
It is difficult to say, as I am uncertain how many knifes are missing from the kitchen. I would like to keep this for now.
[She crosses her arms, resting the blade of the knife over her bicep.]
Do you know if anyone else chose to take a knife?
no subject
No, but...
It's a first instinct for self-defense, isn't it?
[Or was she the only one so paranoid.]
I... just wanted to feel safe since my magic's all gone without my wand. And that dagger didn't seem very... useful.
no subject
[Just... pointing that out. Continuing her record of being absolutely nice to everyone. There's a moment of hesitation, though, and she nods.]
But you are not incorrect. It is unlikely that a second murder will be committed this week, as per the rules of the game, so you should be safe enough without this knife until after the trial. If you are innocent.
Should we both survive the trial, I will return this knife to you, for your protection. And attempt to discern if anyone else thought as you did.
no subject
[Says someone who has no idea how weaponry works.]
Just to give me enough time to scream very loudly and slash his hand open, maybe.
[She averts her eyes purposefully from the body now.]
...Who would have done something so awful?
I suppose... somebody whose memory was... more important than a life.
[And before they knew of the prize they were playing for... surely some people had shared their missing memories with others. Glinda herself knew of two.]
no subject
[Peko...yama most people don't have training with weapons. Most people are not yakuza.]
You should not use a weapon if you are not trained in its usage. You may not have intended to harm anyone, but then, you may kill someone by even by mistake. Errors of that sort are costly here.
[Pekoyama shrugs the case off her bag and opens the top flap of the bag, carefully sliding the knife in there hilt-first so it won't tear the cloth. And so she can try to hurl it at someone with the case later if need be. Innovative!]
Do not underestimate what others are capable of. Something that may not be important to you may be the most precious thing to another.
