The main difference being... if the true culprit were to get away with their crime, everyone else on the island would be executed, and the true culprit would be permitted to go free.
I wanted the young master to escape. After they voted me as the culprit, I tried to argue that though I was the one who swung the bat which killed Koizumi, the young master was the true culprit, as I am nothing but his tool. But the young master... he refused to accept it. So they determined that I, as the true culprit, was to be executed. I was about to be dragged away...
