[Poland hears something move behind him and starts to turn to greet Lithuania and tease him for being the one who was late for once-- but everything suddenly goes dark. It takes him a moment before he can even begin to process what just happened and he can't react quickly enough before something hooks around his neck. His hands fly up to claw at whoever grabbed him, he tries to scream but something else moves to cover his nose and mouth. His scream is smothered in to muffled silence and only then he fully realizes what's happening.]

[ All she can do is hold on even as he struggles and claws at her; she leans her weight into the chair, closing her eyes and willing it to end soon. Her head is pounding and her stomach is roiling and she knows it's not because of the fever. ]

[Poland's thoughts race in a whirlwind as he can feel his lungs seizing in his chest from the lack of air. He wasn't dead weight or dispensable-- if anything he'd thought Spain would be the one to... to.

Poland's body falters before his spirit, weakened by the illness that ravaged him during the week. His hands slip away from his throat and the rest of his body grows heavy.

He wasn't supposed to die. He'd promised. He'd promised he wouldn't die.]

[Poland can feel himself slipping away. He can't stop it, there's nothing left in him to fight against it any longer.

The darkness finally closes in on him and Sonia can probably feel that Poland's gone.]

[ She waits until he's gone completely limp in her arms, and even then she doesn't let go, just standing there, breathing hard. ]

I'm... so...rry...

[ She finally lets go and pulls the curtain off; she props his body up so it doesn't fall out of the chair and goes to string the curtain back up. Her hands are shaking badly; it feels like her entire body's gone completely numb and cold. She nearly falls off the chair as she tries to put the curtain back, and when she climbs down she needs a minute to collect herself and hastily wipe at her eyes. She goes through the rest of the motions of her plan mechanically: she rewinds and destroys the clock, she plants the bolt in the wall, and she drops the second letter on the floor.

After that, she pulls Poland's body out of the chair and struggles to set him on the floor in front of the locked set of doors. She searches his body for his keys and tucks them away in her pocket, then she retrieves and sets up the crossbow. Then she pauses over Poland's body, just looking at him, and the only thing that alleviates the 'I'm so sorry' mantra in her head is the fact that in a few days she'll be joining him.

A few moments later, she gets up and leaves the room. She triggers the crossbow and hears the bolt thunk into the lock. She pauses before the door before turning on her heel to slip upstairs. She still has more to do. ]
