She ensures that one set of doors is locked and that the windows are locked, and then she pulls up a chair to stand on so that she can take one of the curtains down. She's feeling faint and dizzy, and it's hard to keep her balance; it's a good thing she planned to arrive early. Finally it comes loose and she nearly falls over trying to catch it. Breathing hard, she restores the chair and pulls the remaining curtain across herself.
